About Music and Miss Kelly

My name is Laura Kelly and I am the music teacher at both Hoff elementary and Hudson elementary in the Re3J school district. I am passionate about music education and how it relates to the total educational experience.

During your child’s time in my music class it is my goal to not only teach your child key musical concepts but to introduce your student to how music represents history and culture, supports core subject areas such as math and language arts, and promotes creativity and teamwork.

Movement, singing, and key musical concepts are included every class period. In addition, students will play xylophones, boom whackers, and drums during various lessons. Older students will begin playing recorders in 4th grade. Lessons are designed to have a connection to other areas of the elementary curriculum as well as lifelong social, listening, and thinking skills that reach beyond the music classroom.

I received my B.A. in music education from Bethany College, Kansas and My M.A.T. in elementary school curriculum from the University of Northern Colorado.

Prior to teaching for Re3J, I spent many years giving private music instruction as well as teaching in various private and parochial schools. I became a member of the RE3J family in the fall of 2002.

I am a flutist and have performed in various groups over the years. Currently, I am a member of the Sherwood Park Flute Ensemble in Greeley, CO. I also play with the Greeley Kiwanis band during the summer months.

Outside the Classroom:

Educators become more empowered and inspired by the lives they lead outside the classroom. In my free time I am an avid hiker, traveler, amateur blogger, and bike rider. Relationships are important to me and enjoy quality time with my family and close friends.
