Recognizing Our First Responders

Weld Re-3J welcomed multiple first responders for an appreciation breakfast on October 22. Students from the WCHS culinary program prepared and served police and fire representatives. We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with all local first responder agencies. Thank you for all you do for our communities and schools!

Safety & Prevention

Being prepared ahead of time is the best way to keep our schools, students, and staff safe. Weld County School District Re-3J follows the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), which is designed by the “I Love U Guys” Foundation.  SRP identifies five standard responses to emergency situations.  Please view the SRP Parent Handouts (English, Español) for detailed information regarding the SRP response in Weld Re-3J schools.

Threat assessments also play a critical role in keeping everyone on school campuses safe.  Threats of school violence can come in many different forms. Whenever a threat is made, whether it is a threat to self or others, a team of trained school professionals complete a threat assessment protocol. This expert-developed protocol is used in districts across the state and involves law enforcement and parents. The Colorado Office of School Safety provides an online course for parents and the general public entitled: Threat Assessment:  What Parents & Guardians Need to Know. Additionally, parents can access the Frequently Asked Questions document. This course explains the threat assessment process and why parent/guardian collaboration is so important.
